History of the International Day of the Deaf dates back to 1958 when the first held in each country in the world, including the former Czechoslovakia. International Day of the Deaf is a major global event that is repeated every year in the month of September since 1958 in different cities of Slovakia.
Deaf is presented as a cultural and linguistic minority with certain standards of behavior and its own history. The event is among the largest and most visited in the Deaf community throughout the European Union. Arts and culture in the world today shall Deaf big boom. Deaf artists are presented primarily visual arts in painting, carving, photography, art- graphic arts and disembarking.
The main objective is to strengthen the identity of the Deaf demonstrate their art and traditions and present a common sign language.
The main intention is to preserve and develop the cultural heritage of the Deaf.
The main motive behind organizing the International Day of the Deaf is a lack of interest and knowledge of the public heard about the deaf community, preserving longstanding tradition of organizing the International Day of the Deaf, expression of support and solidarity with the community. This community has difficulty integrating into society. Therefore, the needs of their community, meet, publicly present their art and raising its profile among the general public.
Efficiency is expected promote integration, remove communication barriers and integrate into society as equivalent by the hearing community and the public.
Deaf community to afford another opportunity to express their needs and rights of life and show the public its main mission and goals that can meet only with her help.

Deaf Centrum ANEPS Kosice took over this year traveling pledge to organize a grand celebration of the International Day of the Deaf and we will try to attract the interest of the general public about the deaf community through unforgettable events with cultural programs and sports competitions in Košice on 12. 09. – 13. 09. 2014.
